William L. Dismuke
Bill is a founder and principal of the Firm and oversees the Firm’s Estate Planning, Probate and Tax areas. He does considerable work in the Firm’s Corporate areas as well.
Bill graduated in 1982 from Baylor University School of Law where he was the recipient of the Pakis, Cherry, Beard and Giotes award as the outstanding student in the tax and corporate area. He received his B.B.A. in accounting from Texas Tech University in 1977 where he graduated cum laude.
Prior to entering law school, he worked as a public accountant with the firm of Alford Meroney & Co. in Dallas, Texas, receiving his Certified Public Accountant designation in 1980. Bill is Board Certified in both Tax Law and Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
He has served as counsel to numerous businesses and individuals in planning and implementing overall business goals and specific tax-oriented plans, combining his knowledge of tax and corporate law with an understanding of the impact of such plans on financial statements and cash flow. He has planned and probated many estates considering the tax impact, probate constraints and personal desires of his clients to achieve results which minimize tax consequences while maximizing asset control. He has lectured, and continues to lecture, at numerous seminars on various topics in the tax, estate planning and probate areas. Bill is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Texas, United States Tax Court, United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas and was recently recognized as the Professional of the Year by the Community Foundation of North Texas.
In addition to his legal career, Bill served on the Board of Women’s Haven of Tarrant County between the years of 1986 through 1993 and as President in 1991. He also has served on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Arlington and has actually been a “Big Brother” since 2000. Additionally, Bill has been very active in his church, North Davis Church of Christ, since 1977 where he has taught Bible classes to college students and other adults, and served as a deacon from 1982 until 2004, at which time he began serving as an elder. Bill also is a Director of the Community Foundation of North Texas. Bill and his wife, Paula, have two daughters, Jessica and Taylor.
